After long last, Adam Warren's Empowered 6 has broken loose upon the world. But does it stand up to the previous installments? Read on dear viewer, though be warned that their maybe some spoilers.

This latest installment of our favorite plucky blonde heroine begins pretty much right where #5 left off. Numerous Capes have been killed by Willy Pete which includes my fav minor character of MindF*ck. Though one Emp hating jerk of a hero manages to live and continues to blame poor Emp for all the bad stuff that keeps happening.

Emp handles this in her standard emotional way, but to her credit doesn't have to hold back any tears this time. This might seem minor but it shows a continual growth in her confidence that you'll see in this book.

The main villain of this series will not be Willy Pete. He does however make an appearance via a viral feed which kind of sadly reflects how our culture is. The main villain is one that revolves around death, or more to the point, the superdead. He enslaves them to do his bidding even while they continue to decompose and rot.

You might be asking who are among the Superdead, well I can't tell you that but they end up relying on Emp to help them out. This is where the story where I feel Emp steps up as both a hero and a leader. There is one moment in the book where Emp literally wields the ultimate symbol of power.

Of course with an Emp book, you gotta have little side stories and bondage. Mr. Warren doesn't disappoint with what I feel might be the best little side story ever in the series. Do to financial difficulties, Emp gives in and decides to work on a bondage video with Ocelotina. Ok...now stop drooling, I mean it. It's not what you think, Emp sits down and gives some really great advice on the video for young future heroines about what to do if your captured and tied up. Sure there are multiple scenes of her bound, tied and the occasional rug burn moment but you don't care about that do you?

There are only a few critiques I have with this book. One would be the pacing. Maybe it's me, but the flow of the story sometimes is jerky. It could just be the fact I am still not 100% used to the Mangay style. The Caged Demonwolf gives another long narrative that just didn't work for me this time. I usually love his character but I guess I wished he had more of an interaction with the main characters than telling stuff about them.

In the end, this makes for a great transitional book in the series. None of the stories from #5 are really resolved but given more depth. This is especially true with the Sistah Spooky/MindF*ck storyline. I def recommend it for the Empowered fan out there that is caught up on the series. Newbies should review Empowered 1-5 before diving into this because even Emp's cute recap at the beginning doesn't answer all questions.

Oh, and for the die hard Emp fan out there, though unconfirmed, one of the two odd mysteries of the Emp-verse might have made a little easter egg guest appearance in this book. But I can't tell you for fear of breaking the Super-Homey Gag Order ;)
Just a fan review of :iconadamwarren: newest Empowered book. I highly recommend the series as a whole too :)

Just read through 1 - 7 and love the progression of EMP as a character and the development of the people around her. I read a lotta comics and enjoy them but you care about Emp, Ninjette and Thugboy - they have a vulnerability that adds to their character and enhances the books. Really looking forward to the Maidman one shot and Volume 7!
